The Wheal Jane Group is delighted to continue its support of the Wheal Velocity Cycling Club based in the grounds of the Wheal Jane Earth Science Park. This support – along with the club’s dynamic committee and coaching team has helped grow the club to become truly representative across age, gender, ability and cycling disciplines! From the club’s own perspective ….
At Wheal Velocity we are incredibly privileged to have the support of The Wheal Jane Group, an amazing company in the heartland of Cornwall who have continually backed the community in ways that make a difference!
We cannot emphasize enough the amazing support that the Wheal Jane Group give us year after year, whether through our presence on the site, giving young riders the opportunity to train in a traffic free environment, the chance to use the incredible circuit to put on some amazing criterium racing for everyone, the awesome support of land, or men and machinery to build our mountain biking course, they have always been right behind us!
Not to mention this year, sponsoring the prize fund for the upcoming Wheal Jane Classic and giving riders the chance to walk away with some awesome prizes and cash!
Sadly, last month we had the news that Bernard Ballard, founding director of the Group, passed away after a short illness. In gratitude for everything the group has done for us we will be hosting the Wheal Jane Classic in honour and memory of Bernard, all riders will be awarded a finisher’s medal bearing his name. We think that makes the event even more special and hope our riders do too!
We hope riders and supporters will join us in giving thanks in advance of our summer of racing and riding, to an incredible Cornish Company, who have continued to support the Community in so many ways!
Wheal Jane Group – thank you!
