Wheal Jane Waste & Recycling has been operating in Cornwall for over 25 years, providing a compliant and sustainable solution for the recovery and treatment of imported waste soils and construction materials. We are not a landfill site; we are a licensed waste recovery facility focused on reuse, treatment, and environmental protection.

Imported construction and demolition (C&D) waste soils are carefully assessed and managed in accordance with our Environmental Permits. Suitable materials are beneficially reused for landscaping, engineering works, and the ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation of the Clemows Valley Tailings Dam, supporting long-term environmental stability and land improvement.

In addition to soil recovery, we process incoming C&D waste to produce certified recycled aggregates, supplying high-quality materials suitable for a wide range of construction and civil engineering applications. This enables valuable resources to be recovered locally, reducing reliance on primary aggregates and supporting the circular economy in Cornwall.

We are the only facility in Cornwall authorised and permitted to accept soils containing naturally occurring elevated levels of heavy metals, providing a critical local outlet for contaminated soils that would otherwise require out of county disposal. This delivers significant cost, carbon, and logistical benefits for construction projects across the region.

We also accept other specialist waste streams, including dredging arisings and wastes generated from minewater treatment processes, where these meet our waste acceptance criteria and permit requirements.

Working in partnership with UK Remediation, we can also accept and treat a broad range of hazardous and contaminated soils, including those affected by:

  • Oil and fuel spillages
  • Hydrocarbon contamination
  • Asbestos-containing soils
  • Other complex contamination types

All wastes are handled under strict regulatory controls, with robust waste acceptance, testing, and treatment procedures to ensure full compliance with environmental legislation and duty of care requirements.

With decades of experience, specialist permits, and trusted remediation partners, Wheal Jane Waste & Recycling offers a safe, sustainable, and fully compliant solution for waste soil recovery, treatment, and recycled aggregate production in Cornwall.
